LeFlore Communications, LLC opened in August
2005 (and was officially incorporated in the
State of Wisconsin in October 2005). LeFlore
Communications is a registered vendor with
the Federal Government, and certified minority
small business entity with the State of
Wisconsin and the City of Milwaukee's
Emerging Business Enterprise Program (EBE).

LeFlore Communications strongly supports
collaboration for mutual benefit with other
small businesses and individuals with
complementary areas of expertise. We work
with freelance writers, graphic designers,
project managers and independent
contractors on special projects.                  

Background of Owner

Fannie LeFlore, MS, is a Social Entrepreneur,
Journalist and Licensed Professional Counselor.
These combined career areas are the foundation
of the expertise and quality professional services
provided by LeFlore Communications, LLC.

Fannie LeFlore engages in multiple roles as a
Writer/ Editor and Corporate Communications/
Special Projects Consultant working with diverse
businesses and other clientele.

LeFlore brings 25 years of professional
experience to the various projects she
undertakes, and can best be described as flexible
in her approach to communications.

LeFlore received a bachelor's degree in
Journalism in 1985 from the University of Iowa,
and a master's degree in Education/ Counseling
in 1993 from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Previously, LeFlore was an award-winning
newspaper reporter. Her 10-year professional
communications background includes media
employment in Iowa, Tennessee, Indiana, Illinois
and Wisconsin. In 1995-96, she worked on a
major freelance project that combined her areas
of expertise in psychology and writing as
Co-writer/Editor of
The Road Less Traveled and
Beyond
(1997), a book by the late,
internationally-known author, M. Scott Peck, M.D.

LeFlore obtained credentials in 1993 as a
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and was
subsequently certified (2003) as a Substance
Abuse Counselor in Wisconsin.  Her professional
experience in non-profit and private practice
human services is inclusive of community health,
education and counseling programs. For ten
years, she had various roles in program
development, supervisory/management and
direct client services as a psychotherapist
working with individuals, families and groups.

Over the years, LeFlore also taught writing
classes part-time for high school and college
students, and facilitated various subject-matter
presentations and workshops/trainings.

Recent activities:

2010 to date: Networking through LinkedIn, FaceBook and
various in-person events, resulting in new collaborations
with colleagues across the country, and with various articles
published on national/international websites.

2008-2009:  Fannie attended several
small business and entrepreneurs'
conferences, and networking events
at various colleges and universities (as
speaker at Mount Mary College
and program participant with Medical
College of Wisconsin) and community
organizations (The Planning Council )
relevant to promoting collaborative
violence-prevention and community
benefit activities in Milwaukee.

December 17-21, 2007: Various presentations and
meetings with diverse sources/audiences to explore new
Social Entrepreneurship plans and related options for
business development, inclusive of a two-day stay in
Hampton, Virginia.

December 13, 2007: As trainer for professional staff at the
Milwaukee County House of Corrections, with co-presenter
Brenda Wesley speaking about her family's experiences, as
part of ongoing Mental Health awareness project efforts
being coordinated by LeFlore and Dr. Bell as Co-Directors.

October 31, 2007: As Mental Health panel speaker with Dr.
Michael Bell and as workshop presenter with Dr. Bell and
Darlene Luckett in Washington, D.C. at the National
Conference on Safe Schools and Communities, sponsored
by the Hamilton Fish Institute/George Washington
University and the U.S. Department of Justice.

October 24, 2007: With Dr. Michael Bell and Darlene Luckett
in interviews by Susan Bence of WUWM Milwaukee Public
Radio, for upcoming two-segment program about mental
health and violence prevention.

October 17, 2007: As facilitator of a 2-hour community
discussion for the "2007 Week Without Violence,"
sponsored by YWCA Greater Milwaukee, with guest
speakers Darlene Luckett and Gary Whitley sharing their
professional and personal experiences.

July & August 2007: July 12 as a guest (with Dwayne Lee
and Sue McKenzie)  discussing Mental Health Matters
project on WMCS/1290 radio with program host Cassandra
McShepard;  Aug. 9 as guest on WMCS discussing effective
communication and mental health.

Fall 2006 and Winter 2006-07: The Wisconsin Psychiatrist
published articles by Fannie on mental health and
MH/violence prevention (latter co-authored with Dr. Michael
Bell).
