LeFlore Communications, LLC opened in August
2005 (and was officially incorporated in the
State of Wisconsin in October 2005). LeFlore
Communications is a registered vendor with
the federal government's CCR system, and
certified minority small business enterprise in
the State of Wisconsin and with the City of
Milwaukee's Emerging Business Enterprise
Program (EBE).

LeFlore Communications is accredited by the
Better Business Bureau. Fannie LeFlore is a
member of the American Mental Health
Counselors Association (AMHCA).

We work with freelance writers, graphic  
designers, projects managers and other
independent contractors on various projects.

Professional Background
of Company Owner

Fannie LeFlore is an Entrepreneur, Journalist and
Licensed Professional Counselor. These combined
career areas are the foundation of the expertise
and quality professional services provided by
LeFlore Communications, LLC.

Fannie LeFlore engages in multiple roles as a
Writer/ Editor and Corporate Communications/
Special Projects Consultant working with diverse
businesses and other clientele.

LeFlore brings 25 years of professional
experience to the various projects she
undertakes, and can best be described as flexible
in her approach to communications.

LeFlore received a bachelor's degree in
Journalism in 1985 from the University of Iowa,
and a master's degree in Education/ Counseling
in 1993 from the University of Wisconsin-Oshkosh.

Previously, LeFlore was an award-winning
newspaper reporter. Her communications
background includes media employment in Iowa,
Tennessee, Indiana, Chicago and Milwaukee. In
1995-96, she worked on a major freelance
project that combined her areas of expertise in
psychology and writing as Co-writer/Editor of The
Road Less Traveled and Beyond (1997), a book
by the late, internationally-known author, M.
Scott Peck, M.D.

Over the years, LeFlore also taught writing
classes part-time for high school and college
students.

LeFlore obtained credentials in 1995 as a
Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) and was
subsequently certified as a Substance Abuse
Counselor in Wisconsin.  Her professional
experience in human services is inclusive of
community health, education and counseling
programs, including ten years as a
psychotherapist working with individuals, groups
and families, and various program development,
supervisory and management roles.
Fannie LeFlore (pictured) has been
involved in the following recent activities:

Spring and Summer 2008: Several
small business and entrepreneurs'
conferences in Wisconsin, and with
various colleges and universities (as
recent speaker at Mount Mary College
and program participant with Medical
College of Wisconsin) and community
organizations (The Planning Council )
relevant to promoting collaborative
violence-prevention and community
benefit activities in Milwaukee.

December 17-21, 2007: Various presentations and
meetings with diverse sources/audiences to explore new
option for business development, inclusive of a two-day
stay in Hampton, Virginia.

December 13, 2007: As trainer for professional staff at the
Milwaukee County House of Corrections, with co-presenter
Brenda Wesley speaking about her family's experiences, as
part of ongoing Mental Health awareness project efforts
being coordinated by LeFlore and Dr. Bell as Co-Directors.

October 31, 2007: As Mental Health panel speaker with Dr.
Michael Bell and as presenter with Dr. Bell and Darlene
Luckett in Washington, D.C. at the National Conference on
Safe Schools and Communities, sponsored by the Hamilton
Fish Institute/George Washington University and the U.S.
Department of Justice.

October 24, 2007: With Dr. Michael Bell and Darlene Luckett
in interviews by Susan Bence of WUWM Milwaukee Public
Radio, for upcoming two-segment program about mental
health and violence prevention.

October 17, 2007: As facilitator of a 2-hour community
discussion for the "2007 Week Without Violence,"
sponsored by YWCA Greater Milwaukee, with guest
speakers Darlene Luckett and Gary Whitley sharing their
professional and personal experiences.

July & August 2007: July 12 as a guest (with Dwayne Lee
and Sue McKenzie)  discussing Mental Health Matters
project on WMCS/1290 radio with program host Cassandra
McShepard;  Aug. 9 as guest on WMCS discussing effective
communication and mental health.

Fall 2006 and Winter 2006-07: The Wisconsin Psychiatrist --
Wrote articles on mental health and MH/violence prevention
(the latter co-authored with Dr. Michael Bell).

January 2006: Today’s Wisconsin Woman of Greater
Mlwaukee, in  “Women on the Move” section.

December 2005: In Black Women 50+ Health and Lifestyle
Magazine, “Remembering Scotty: A Tribute to M. Scott Peck,
author of The Road Less Traveled,” was published as a
commentary after Peck’s death September 25, 2005;
LeFlore explored Peck’s contributions to psychology and her
experience working with Peck on his book, The Road Less
Traveled and Beyond.

Fall 2005: The Iowa Journalist, a University of Iowa alumni
publication, cited LeFlore’s exclusive interviews with another
Iowa graduate, Clenora Hudson-Weems, Ph.D., who is an
expert on the Emmett Till murder case.

August  2005: The South Bend Tribune (Indiana) published
an article by LeFlore based on her interview with Barry
Morrow, a Hollywood Producer and Oscar-winning Co-writer
of the movie, “Rain Man,” about a film project he co-
produced with Clenora Hudson-Weems about the
redemptive legacy of Emmett Till.
